"Teacher education professors instruct such a smaller percentage of the Mount population compared to professors in other disciplines," she notes. "As trite as it might seem the nomination was honor enough," Dr. Sullivan adds

For her vision on where she would like to be ten years from now, Dr. Sullivan provided the following scenario:
At this time, I am very satisfied being involved in the preparation of pre-service teachers. However, one day I hope to return to teaching literature and writing-perhaps at the community college level. While doing this, I hope to pursue a writing career, but I am not sure about the genre of writing. I have done some fiction writing-short stories-also poetry; I have also thought about writing children's books. I need to learn a little more about the craft.

If there is anyone reading this who has ever thought about teaching, Dr. Sullivan hopes that you would go and speak with her.

"This world needs the younger generation to step forward and lead responsibly," she says, "Teaching is a profession that allows this. It is a profession that requires an individual to give one-hundred percent each day."

Dr. Sullivan is most definitely a true educator. In her own words of wisdom: "The challenges are daunting, at times, but the rewards many. Through teaching I have become the person I was meant to be…"
