Selecting the names that made it this far took a lot of thought and reflection. Therefore, upon our own further reflection, the Brown and White Editorial Board presents equally appropriate suggestions for mascot names.

From the moment I laid eyes on "WALL-E," I knew I was going to fall in love with the character. It's hard to comprehend how Disney can churn out movie after movie and still be able to create their possibly cutest and lovable character yet. As well, it's also hard to put into words just what's so amazing about "WALL-E.

Before we go any further, I just would like to go on the record saying that I have enjoyed the Entertainment Committee's events for my entire time at Stevens. From the Duck After Darks, to the many standup comedians that have come to campus, to the off campus trips that they have sponsored, I have sampled nearly every event that they have had to offer.

We are now in the throes of an economic cataclysm that the world's smartest financial wizards, equipped with the most sophisticated computer models, could not foresee or forestall. This crisis brings to mind something that my favorite philosopher, the self-described "epistemological anarchist" Paul Feyerabend, once said: "Prayer may not be very efficient when compared to celestial mechanics, but it surely holds its own vis-a-vis some parts of economics.

The registration deadline to vote in this year's presidential election has passed, and you're glad you signed up. Whether it was because your Freshman Seminar professor forced you to, your mother asked you to, or you just promised yourself you wouldn't be lazy this time around, you did it! But are you actually going to vote?
The odds are against you, so probably not.

I'm confused.
If I would need a doctor to perform a life-altering procedure, I would choose the person with the most experience possible, whose walls were plastered with certificates for everything and anything (I wouldn't care if they were awards for a pie eating contest, just as long as they show that this doctor's got commitment).

ex is a favorite topic of mine, though I'm often confused. No surprise there. Even the great evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins wrote, "If you think you understand sex, you don't understand sex."
Take corn, for example. It is sexual. The tassels on top of corn plants are male and produce pollen (sperm).

To understand is not to condone.
Unfortunately, this is difficult for some to comprehend. Some prefer to operate under the assumption that all things are equal, and nuance does not exist. In their minds, to write about a topic is to legitimize it, to discuss something forbidden is suddenly to claim it is permitted.

My fellow liberal friends think I'm nuts. "Why?" you might ask. Simple enough - it's the fact that I'm not voting for Obama come Nov. 4. Yet, at the same time, I'm not voting for McCain.
"So what, then?" people ask me. Am I just not going to vote? No, I say, I'm voting third party.

he Republican National Convention can best be described as a desperate party, in both senses of the phrase. Not only is the Republican Party desperate, but the convention reflected the reality of what confronts the Republican campaign this election. It revealed a party that is running from itself and its record, a party that is trying to ride the wave of change while remaining stagnant in its failed policies.

Students and teachers on campus should be proud of President Scanlan's recent comments concerning the formation of a virgin club. This is a big step forward in thinking for the more conservative leadership of college. Think about it for a minute, if Scanlan believes a virgin club should be formed, then by logical process he accepts that sex does occur on campus.

As yet another semester begins at Montclair State University, a new set of problems arise that people complain and whine about. Some are fixed and some aren't, but on the whole, no one is truly satisfied.
One of the problems that finds its way to the top of the complaint list is the shuttle bus situation we have had on campus for years.

Amen, Bro. Scanlan! Finally, someone out there is sticking up for the true Catholic ideals that this college should be representing. It is about time that the heathens who run amok on this campus are shown that there is another lifestyle following the path of Jesus Almighty, away from infidelity and gonorrhea.

Hello Bobcats,
As you may be aware, last week your Student Government Association made a motion to ban the Web site Juicycampus.com from campus. There has been quite a bit of news circulating about this action, and we hope the Quinnipiac community understands that our plan of action is meant for the sole purpose of benefitting our campus, and making it a better place.

Before we look forward to the departure of the Bush administration, the campaign season and the upcoming election, it is imperative we slow down and take a look back.

College students throughout America anxiously wait for a night off from working to get off campus and go out to have a good time. Quinnipiac students are no exception. Every Thursday night you can be sure to find dozens of people waiting in line for a shuttle going into New Haven.

There is a phrase that reverberates through the hallways of Pace the first handful of weeks in the semester that sends chills down the spine of every single undergraduate student unlucky enough to be on its receiving end: "Sorry, to get this taken care of, you're going to have to speak with OSA.

I am writing in response to the October 1, 2008 editorial by Jennifer Garvey, "Not as Safe as You May Think."
Everyone at Pace is concerned with making our student security policies as good as they can be. Like most societies, we are constantly reexamining the essential and difficult balance between freedom and protection.

"I don't know if we want to honor hate speech and give it a place. I really don't. And I think we're pretty much at one with many institutions on this. We will not abide hate speech on campus." - Rev. Joseph M. McShane, S.J., President of the University, in the Sept.

Last Thursday night, both vice presidential candidates squared off against one another in front of millions of viewers across the country, and presumably across the world. Anybody with access to the Internet or a television and any minute interest in either politics or comedy had no doubt heard about the recent downturn of Gov.

Over 120 Chancellors and Presidents of America's colleges and universities have become signatories on a petition that asks lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age to 18. All signatories agree that having a drinking age of 21 promotes binge drinking and other unsafe alcohol- related practices.

Security at MC has gotten out of hand. Originally, students were informed that security was here to protect outsiders from getting in the buildings, but as of late it seems as if they are working to keep students out. Recently I had a run-in with a building area coordinator, and it left me questioning whether or not security is really doing their job.
